10 questions for company owners · PDF

What happens to your ordering panel when your only developer leaves?

In many companies nobody knows the answer. Ten questions will show in five minutes where you stand, no programming knowledge needed.

Will your system survive your developer leaving?

Does your company have its own system in PHP?
How many people work at your company?

Leave your number if you would rather talk about the result than read an e-mail. I will call and in fifteen minutes tell you where I would start.

The PDF arrives right away. No newsletter.

The data controller is KP Krzysztof Piórkowski, NIP 7123457574, ul. Relaksowa 12/25, 20-819 Lublin. I will use your e-mail, and your phone number if you give it, to send the checklist and answer your questions. Your answers about the system and company size help me prepare that answer. What is inside

Ten questions in three parts, each answered YES or NO, with one sentence on why it is worth asking. I based them on checklists from companies in Poland and abroad that take over legacy applications. At the end you count your score and see where to start.

The first question on the list

Do you know which PHP version the system runs on and whether that version still gets security patches?

Older PHP versions no longer get them, and version 8.2 stops at the end of 2026. A system on such a version works fine until the day someone finds a hole in it.

Who prepared this checklist

Krzysztof Piórkowski, senior PHP developer, Rymatic

I have been writing PHP commercially since 2019, in fintech, production SaaS, e-commerce and logistics. I developed a Zend 1 system on PHP 4, maintained Laravel systems on PHP 7.4, built new ones on PHP 8 and I teach PHP at Coders Lab. At Rymatic I take over systems from previous contractors and run them personally.

When this checklist will not tell you much

If you have your own development team or a shop on a subscription platform such as Shoper or IdoSell, most questions do not apply. The checklist is for companies with their own PHP system and nobody looking after it day to day.
